We are working to start the transition towards renewable energy, raise awareness of environmental issues, and promote sustainable public policy in the Town of Manlius. Sustainable Manlius meets virtually on the first Thursday of every month.

Community Solar 

The Town of Manlius is excited to announce the successful completion and full subscription of our groundbreaking community 5.83 MW solar project located on our retired landfill. 

In collaboration with Solar Simplified, experts in managing community solar projects, we are excited to continue signing Manlius residents up for Community Solar. By signing up at www.solarsimplified.com/Manlius, participants can get on a waitlist to join several Community Solar projects that are coming online within the National Grid utility territory in 2024.

Easy Enrollment, Significant Savings

Upon enrollment, Solar Simplified will analyze your annual electricity usage to allocate sufficient solar credits to your monthly electricity statement. There is a 10% discount on all applied solar credits on your entire electric bill, including delivery charges. Enrollees of any Community Solar project participate on a month-to-month basis and can cancel anytime without penalty. Participants on the Town of Manlius waitlist will be prioritized as additional spots become available in other regional community solar projects.

The Town of Manlius has adopted a Climate Action Plan (CAP). The goal of the CAP is to set targets and act as a plan for reducing energy use and greenhouse gas emissions in the Town of Manlius, both from municipal operations and the community-at-large.

NYSERDA Clean Energy Community

The Town of Manlius became a Certified Bronze NYSERDA Clean Energy Community in March of 2022.

NYS Climate Smart Community

The Town of Manlius took the Climate Smart Community Pledge on April 22, 2020. 

The Climate Smart Communities program has 100's of actions we can do to work toward becoming a certified Climate Smart Community.
