Frequently Asked Questions

Any Town of Manlius residential property owner of a 3-family or less home and who does not live inside any of the Villages of Fayetteville, Manlius or Minoa. If you live in any of these villages, you must contact your local Department of Public Works for information on your trash and/or brush districts. For more information, please contract the Town of Manlius Trash and Brush Coordinator at (315) 637-8815.

The annual charge for trash enrollment is $361 for a single family, $722 for a two-family and $1083 for a three-family house. Brush enrollment is $65.10.

The charge(s) after enrolling is/are for the district(s) you are enrolled in will appear annually on your January property tax bill. If you join mid-year, there is a prorated charge for the Trash District only; there is no proration for mid-year brush enrollment.

Syracuse Haulers will provides residents with the standard 95 gallon carts, one trash and one recycling. If you are interested in smaller totes or an additional set, you will need to contact Syracuse Haulers to request them, their phone number is (315) 426-6771.

If containers have not been delivered to you, please contact Sharon Lake at (315) 637-8815 to make sure you are signed up for trash service.  

To have your trash and recycling picked up, wheel the provided garbage carts to the end of your driveway and turn them so that the handle is facing your house.  Syracuse Hauler's equipment requires spacing between the two carts to allow the arm to grab them.  The containers should closed all the way to ensure all the contents make it in to the truck.  If you have additional trash that doesn't fit in the containers, you can contact Syracuse Haulers at (315) 426-6771 to arrange for additional pickup for a fee.

ALL YARD WASTE MUST BE CONTAINED AND/OR BUNDLED. LOOSE PILES OF YARD WASTE WILL NOT BE PICKED UP. There is no limit on the amount of brush you may put out. If you are planning on having a lot to dispose of on a pick-up day please give Syracuse Haulers a ‘heads up’. The weight limit for brush/yard waste is 50 pounds per container. Please do not use plastic bags to hold your yard waste. Use either the biodegradable paper bags and/or rigid containers (even an old trash can is acceptable. Make sure the lid is off so that the hauler knows it is brush and not trash). Sticks/branches must either be in a rigid container or bundled with string or hemp twine. No wire please. In addition, any sticks/branches must not exceed five (5) feet in length or three (3) inches in diameter. Anything bigger requires a fee for pick-up. In this situation, please contact Syracuse Haulers to find out the charge and to arrange a pick-up date. Another option for disposing of your branches and trunk pieces is to take them to the Town of Manlius Highway Department where, from 6:30am to 2:30pm, Monday through Friday. There is an area available to dump these items at no charge. Please contact the Town of Manlius Highway Department at 315-656-3090 for more information (absolutely no landscapers are allowed to dump at the Town of Manlius Highway Garage.)

Your trash/recyclables and/or brush must be out by 6 am on your collection day, or the night before. Syracuse Haulers can come anywhere from 6:00am to 5:00 pm on the day of your pick-up. There may be two different trucks that pick up the trash and recyclables (one for trash and perhaps a different truck for recyclables). Please remember that if your trash and/or yard waste is put out after the hauler has been through your area you will have to wait for your next pick-up day. It is very important to have your trash and yard waste out no later than 6 am of your pick-up day.

All trash and recycling must fit within the provided carts and the lid must close. Regarding the brush, there is no actual limit. However if you are planning on having an unusually large amount, please contact Syracuse Haulers before your pick-up day to give them a heads up. 

There is no official large- item- pick-up day in the Town of Manlius (for residences located outside of a village). For a fee, Syracuse Haulers and OCRRA can help you dispose of most of these items. Please contact either for details and fees. FYI: any item(s) you want to dispose of through OCRRA must be transported to them. They do not pick up items. If you would like to have Syracuse Haulers come to your residence to take something away call them, tell them what you have to dispose of and they will tell you the cost and when they will be there to pick it up.
