The Town Comptroller provides overall management supervision of the financial activities of the Town under the direction of the Town Supervisor and the Town Board. The Board depends upon this information to manage and assess the Town’s financial condition, develop realistic and structurally balanced budgets, and ensure the real property tax levy is not greater than necessary. The Comptroller’s Office is responsible for meeting the many challenges of financial reporting, including the preparation of the Budget and Annual Reporting required by NYS.

Responsibilities

  • Process the Daily Banking Transactions for the Town.
  • Investing funds.
  • Process the Bi-Monthly Abstracts for the Town.
  • Process the transfer/deposit slips that pertain to the Bi-Monthly Abstracts.
  • Collect W-9’s for Vendors throughout the year.
  • Make recommendations to the Town Supervisor that will improve the financial aspects of the Town.
  • Draft new procedures.
  • Serve as the liaison to the Town’s Finance Committee.
  • Keep the Town Supervisor and the Town Board informed of the financial condition of the Town.
  • Prepare the Supervisor’s Report and other necessary financial documents and reports.
  • Prepare the Town’s Tentative, Preliminary, and Final Budget for the Supervisor.
  • Present the Budget at the Town Board Meeting.
  • Prepare the Annual Financial Report to NYS.
  • Process all Month-end requirements.
  • Prepare all Month-end reports for the Board and Department Heads.
  • Process Year end reporting for Town.
  • Perform month-end reconciliation on town departments.
  • Manages and develops financial procedures and policies.
