Brett Edkins is a sixth-generation New Yorker – a proud F-M graduate, born and raised in Manlius. After college and law school at Yale, he spent his career as an attorney and advocate fighting for voting rights, campaign finance reform, and everyday people. As an attorney, Brett defended reasonable gun safety laws, helped asylum seekers finding a new home, and supported nonprofits getting off the ground. Brett and his husband moved back to Manlius to raise their kids and be closer to family and friends. Appointed to the Town Board in May 2026, Brett's priorities are straightforward: protect working families, make housing more affordable, improve parks and services, keep spending in check, and make Manlius more walkable and livable for everyone. Brett believes local government should be honest and accessible to everyone in the community. He's committed to listening, and getting things done. Term of Office: May 27, 2026-December 31, 2026

Ingrid is a consultant to area business and non-profits through her company IGM Workplace Consulting and Rochester-based HR Works.  Her non-profit experience spans 30 years in national health organizations, student transportation safety, health insurance, government and human services including Elmcrest Children’s Center and Liberty Resources locally. Her work focuses on staff and organizational development, workplace culture and skill gap assessment, onboarding, employee relations, conflict resolution, coaching and talent development. Ingrid is certified as a Certified Professional in Talent Development through the American Society for Talent Development (ATD) Institute and is a recipient of a CNY Best Award of Excellence in Learning and Performance. She has an Executive Masters in Public Administration and a Certification in Conflict Resolution from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University.  She has served as a Senior Policy Advisor for NYS Senator Rachel May, Chair of the Senate Standing Committee on Aging (2021- 2022) on aging policy, expansion of the homecare workforce and advocacy for older adults. She also has direct care experience providing support to individuals with dementia. She served as an Adjunct Faculty Member at the Madden School of Business at LeMoyne College in Syracuse, NY focusing on developing future leaders, in the Human Resources and Leadership Program. In her service as a Town Councilor for the Town of Manlius, she is working to apply principles of Age-Friendly communities which will benefit residents of all ages. Now, a long-time resident of the Town of Manlius, I’d like to share a summary account of my life experiences, which focuses on my dedication to public service, involvement in various community activities, and transition into a career as a labor representative and advocate. Born and raised in Utica, New York, my family background includes a lineage of public servants. Despite facing financial constraints, I pursued civil service aspirations, initially working in multiple industries before joining the Minoa Fire Department as a volunteer firefighter and emergency medical technician. Throughout my tenure with the Minoa Fire Department, I held several positions, contributing significantly to enhancing safety measures and emergency preparedness in the town. Subsequently, I joined the Utica Fire Department before transferring to the Manlius Fire Department. Within the Manlius Fire Department, I had the distinct privilege to take on multiple roles, including Municipal Fire and EMS Instructor, Professional Standards Officer and Tactical Medical Officer, focusing on improving departmental standards and readiness for active shooter incidents. Additionally, I engaged in teaching advanced life-saving courses and served as a Tactical Medical Officer for the Village of Chittenango Police Department. I also ventured into entrepreneurship, establishing a company providing emergency medical training and consulting services. My commitment to community extends to coaching youth sports and volunteering in various capacities, emphasizing the importance of personal responsibility and professional conduct. Despite sustaining a career-ending injury while on duty and calling on my experience as an elected union representative, I embraced new opportunities and joined CSEA as a Labor Relations Specialist, advocating for employee rights and welfare. With a passion for the same, I pursued further education in labor studies and actively engaged in local politics, aiming to address economic challenges, political divisions, and threats to democracy at the grassroots level. Expressing a desire for collaborative governance, I pledge to involve residents in decision-making processes. My diverse background, spanning public service, entrepreneurship, and labor advocacy, equips me with a deep understanding of the community's needs and challenges, and fuels my commitment to driving positive change in the Town of Manlius. I was born and raised in Fayetteville, my first job was delivering the Eagle Bulletin on my bicycle. I returned to my hometown in my late 20’s as a parent, eager to share the placid environment of my childhood with my own son. The Town of Manlius is known for its pastoral beauty, its natural and community resources, and its high standard of living. I am deeply committed to the preservation of these qualities, while assuring that all residents, businesses, and guests are welcomed and served by a competent and responsive government. In the Town of Manlius, every person has a rightful say in the planning and use of their community. As your representative on the Town Board, my commitment is to a healthy community where everyone can thrive. I am dedicated to the responsible stewardship of the assets and resources that make the Town of Manlius a wonderful place to live, work and prosper, while meeting the unprecedented challenges we are now facing. A just, equitable recovery requires transparency and integrity from leaders, and full participation so that all voices are heard. I am eager to serve the Town of Manlius as a Councilor, advancing the important progress being made:  instilling greater transparency, responsible land use planning, promoting climate sustainability, increasing citizen participation and amplifying social justice efforts within the Town. My professional life has been spent predominantly in direct service to my community, an expression of the values instilled in me as a child. Values of humility, integrity, justice and kindness. These values are what drive me to serve in public office today. Securing the dignity and rights due to everyone regardless of race, class, gender, ability, or other defining characteristic has been central to both my career path, and my own personal evolution. Working together with a diverse group of determined people to make change for the better is my passion. I hold a degree in Public Affairs from SUNY, and am also a graduate of both Leadership Greater Syracuse, and the Central New York Political Leadership Institute.
