 Special Meeting Highlights from the Clerk – 10/30/2023

The Town Board held a special meeting on October 30, 2023 at 4:00 PM. The Town Board discussed and approved a resolution regarding the 1984 Police Agreement. The resolution approved the following actions: 

1. To the extent the Agreement is still enforceable, and for the Town to protect its rights under the Agreement, the Town hereby withdraws from the Agreement pursuant to Section 16 of the Agreement;
2. That the Manlius Police Department has been established with the Agreement and pursuant to the authority vested in the Town under Section 150 of Town Law and shall continue in all aspects and respects as a Department of the Town; 
3. RESOLVED, that the Town Board reserves the right to rescind this resolution if the Town Board and the Village Board’s can agree to compromise language pursuant to the productive conversations that have already taken place between the Villages and the Town.
4. FURTHER RESOLVED, that is the parties continue to negotiate in good faith past December 31st, 2023 the Town will operate pursuant to the amended and restated agreement in its current form as of that date. 

The Town Board approved the amended and restated Intermunicipal Police Agreement.
