Town Board Highlights - June 12, 2024

 Meeting Highlights from the Clerk – 06/12/2024

Open Podium:

Gloria Wagner of East Syracuse spoke regarding the proposed PUD at 5912 N Burdick St, East Syracuse. Ms. Wagner had concerns regarding the increased traffic this would bring into the area. She also voiced concern that there has been no communication with the residents in the area regarding this proposal. Supervisor Deer explained that this project was in the very early stages and that there was going to be a date set for a public hearing where the residents would be notified.

Matthew Denton of Manlius spoke on Town Hall maintenance inquiring about what was being done to address the concerns that have been raised regarding health and safety issues.

Development Planning Committee:

The board made a motion to create the Development Planning Committee.

Community Pool Discussion:

Steve Ball and Mike Langon spoke regarding a proposed feasibility study and asked the board for the funds in the amount of $1,500 to complete this study. Board members asked for more time to review the information that was brought to them and tabled this matter until the June 26, 2024, meeting.

Public Hearing - Accessory Dwelling Units (ADU)

Supervisor Deer gave an update on the proposed Local Law Allowing Accessory Dwelling Units (ADU) in the Town of Manlius. The Town Board held a public hearing on the proposed Local Law. Residents asked questions, spoke in favor, and in opposition of the proposed Local Law. The Town Board closed the public hearing. 

Public Hearing – Zone Change – 7155 Taylor Rd, East Syracuse

Tom Poitras, Town Code Enforcement Officer, gave an update on the zone change request and will continue to work with the applicant to find the best solution. The Town board held a public hearing on the proposed zone change. Residents had the opportunity to ask questions and to speak in favor or in opposition of the proposed zone change. The Town Board closed the public hearing. 

Public Hearing – Zone Change – Seven Pines

Supervisor Deer and Ryan Benz with Atelier Architects gave an update on the project at Seven Pines. The Town Board held a public hearing on the proposed zone change. Residents asked questions, spoke in favor and in opposition of the proposed zone change. The Town Board held the public hearing open in this matter. 

Public Hearing Date - Planned Unit Development (PUD)

The Town Board set a date of July 24, 2024, at 6:35 PM to discuss the proposed Planned Unit Development (PUD) at 5912 N. Burdick St, East Syracuse.

Highway Department – Vehicle Storage Building

The Board awarded the general construction contract to McGinnis Nelson Construction in the amount of 276,000 and the electrical contract to Huen Electric in the amount of $66,885.

North Eagle Village Storm Water Study

The Board awarded the North Eagle Village Road Drainage Study contract to Miller Engineers in the amount of $31,900.00.

Skyridge Water Supply District Infrastructure Improvements

The Board accepted the proposal for engineering services related to the Skyridge Water Supply District Infrastructure Improvements prepared by Miller Engineers in the amount of $315,512, entered into an agreement with DASNY for up to 2 million Dollars in funding for the improvements and authorized the Town to expend up to $25,000 in ARPA funds for the improvements.

Perry Springs Study 

The Board approved the agreement with LaBella Associates for the Perry Springs FM Road Drainage Assessment.

Plastic Reduction Resolution

The Board passed a resolution in Support for the New York State Assembly and Senate to Pass a Strong Packaging Reduction and Recycling Infrastructure Act (A.5322-B/S.4246-B) and Expand the State’s Bottle Bill (A.6353/S.237-B)
